Thugs Behind A Shield

The very few police "rotten apples" in the Big Apple sure are trying to stir things up, aren't they?

Latest case in point involves Shake Shack (!) and the neo- fascist police associations in New York City. We've chronicled the many occasions of NYPD's Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick "The Last Name Is A Clue" Lynch's hysterics when it comes to any opportunity to be a Republican/ right-wing attack dog (see here, here, here, and here).  In short, Lynch is a social injustice warrior and civil order arsonist.  Here's the cause of his latest mindless crusade:
Some of New York City’s finest spent much of Monday evening believing that they had fallen victim to a milkshake poisoning.

The allegedly venomous milkshakes were served at a lower Manhattan Shake Shack, where three officers immediately fell ill after consuming the frothy beverages.
Unions representing NYPD officers immediately took umbrage at the milkshake-provoked disturbance, which saw the three officers immediately hospitalized.
New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch released a statement saying “when New York City police officers cannot even take meal without coming under attack, it is clear that environment in which we work has deteriorated to a critical level.  (our emphasis)
Here's the PBA's "alert," which is akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater. Loudmouth Lynch wasn't the only "union" official to take immediate umbrage and assign malign intent.  In a tweet since deleted, NYPD's Detectives' Endowment Association also jumped to a hasty, paranoid, and false conclusion,  not a smart or successful strategy if you're supposed to be a detective:

The tweet was taken down, and the twitter account whitewashed to make it appear the DEA responded with cool heads.  So, you've probably heard or can guess what really happened:

It's now believed anarchists antifa  Democrats cleaning fluid left in the shake machine was the culprit.  (Clorox?  Hydroxychloroquine?  Better investigate further!)

While the PBA and DEA belatedly issued nopologies and acknowledged the source of the problem, the original bogus alerts put Shake Shack employees in danger for many hours and added to the volatile situation in the city and around the nation.

These police associations deserve to be sued, but won't be. The city, however, needs to stop negotiating contracts with these paranoid thugs, as Minneapolis is doing with its police association.

BONUS:  Lest we leave any NYPD associations out, this is the Sergeants Benevolent Association, which apparently approves of keeping statues to traitors protecting slavery --
