Trump Recklessly Pushes To Fully Open Economy

In a reckless and desperate statement earlier today, malignant narcissist and con man Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump called for the immediate end to stay at home orders, focusing on only protecting what he called "high risk" populations. He's callously disregarding the morbidity of the virus across demographic lines, affecting old and young. In addition, the coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing, and there have been fears that people ignoring stay at home orders and social distancing, as they did during the Memorial Day weekend, will produce a new surge of the virus. Trump made the statement in the absence of medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been sidelined in recent weeks as Trump pushes to fully open the economy. We can't imagine that public health officials are at all on board with Trump's insane urging in the middle of a pandemic.

Trump sees a recovering economy -- not a recovering population -- as vital to his flagging reelection bid in November, so he's desperate to push people back to work, whether the virus is showing signs of spreading or not (but taking care to protect businesses from lawsuits by employees facing unsafe working conditions). He'll have more deaths on his hands, not that it's of any concern to him.

I believe that the CDC issued a statement yesterday about increased cases of people poisoning themselves by putting disinfectants in their food and bleach on their skin. Five years ago I would have said that no one would be stupid enough to do such a thing and it would be ridiculous that anyone would recommend it in the first place, but here we are.

Whatever Trump has as a power to command people to follow his direction, he abuses. And honestly, I find it very difficult to feel any sympathy for people who are as stupid as they are. It's not the purple FlavorAid, but it's equally stupid. They call the Democrats sheep, but they're the ones being fleeced, and sickened, by Trump.

donnah -- That's right about his mouthbreathing cult using disinfectants dangerously, just as their cult leader suggested.
You're right: it's very hard to feel sympathy for such gullible characters.

To add to that, they are so willfully stupid that they will ignore warning labels and refuse to look into Trump's claims to see if what he said is actually safe. Anyone who is this blindly loyal deserves what they get.
