Seeing his poll numbers collapse in the wake of the spreading pandemic, covidiot and narcissistic demagogue Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump has decided to re-insert himself later today into the spotlight by reviving the daily COVID-19 task force briefings. When he hijacked those briefings last spring, he used them as a substitute for his political rallies. They proved to be a rolling disaster for him, as he claimed the pandemic was under control, undermined Governors who were trying to obtain PPE, pushed hydroxychloroquine, and, insanely enough, suggested injecting disinfectant as a "cure" for COVID-19 (a.k.a., the "Trump Virus").
The expectation is that he'll use the time to claim how brilliantly he's performed, as the virus sets record numbers across multiple states, and how a vaccine is just around the corner (i.e., before the election). He'll use whomever he can as compliant props to project a false sense of competence (Deborah "Embers" Birx is usually willing to serve in that capacity). He'll go off whatever script is provided to him and launch into stream of consciousness babble about Joe Biden, law and order, and whatever else he feels can distract the public from his utter failure to manage the virus outbreak.
The networks would be well advised to tape his briefing / rally and present whatever actual news is made later, which might fill a minute or so of airtime. But Trump knows they won't.
