Publication Of Trump's Niece's Book Proceeds

A judge for the appellate court for the New York State Supreme Court has ruled in favor of publisher Simon and Schuster and lifted the restraining order on the publication of Dr. Mary Trump's book "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man." Pre-publication excerpts from the book paint demagogue and malignant narcissist Donald "The Chosen One" Trump as someone obsessed with his own power and wealth, often at the expense of his own family members. Dr. Trump, Trump's niece, is a clinical psychologist, and has had decades of observing the entire, dysfunctional Trump crime family at close range.

Both Trump and his brother Robert have contended that a nondisclosure agreement entered into some 20 years ago bars Dr. Trump from disclosing family secrets. Judge Alan Sheinkman ruled that that agreement didn't restrain Simon and Schuster from publishing her book as they weren't a party to the alleged agreement, and that enjoining publication would violate the "prior restraint" doctrine under the First Amendment.

It's not the final move by the courts, as the Trump family will exhaust any legal motions to stop the publication, which is scheduled for later this month. But it's a good step, and one that preserves Simon and Schuster's First Amendment rights.
