Seventeen year-old Greta Thunberg, the founder of School Strike for Climate and 2019 Time Magazine Person of the Year, won the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity and with it a one million euro prize (roughly $1.2 million). The climate activist says she will donate the prize money to organizations fighting climate change and environment degradation, explaining:
"We're in a climate emergency, and my foundation will as quickly as possible donate all the prize money of one million euros to support organisations and projects that are fighting for a sustainable world."The award is given for leaders in the mitigation of climate change through "novelty, innovation, and impact." She has also been nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
Thunberg, who was attacked by sociopath and cowardly bully Donald "Mango Mussolini" Trump who envied her Time Person of the Year honor, inspired the world with her frank and fearless call to immediate action to save the planet from further degradation by the effects of global warming. Constantly projecting his own flaws on others, Trump mocked Thunberg for "anger management issues." In response, Thunberg temporarily changed her Twitter bio to shame Trump, writing:
"A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”Truth is, Greta has more character, humanity, intelligence and class in her small finger than Trump would have if he lived 10,000 years. Congratulations to a true global star and inspiration for her selfless act.
