You have to scrape the bottom of the lunatic barrel to find people who subscribe to the anonymous right-wing conspiracy purveyor "QAnon," but Georgia Republicans have done it in Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene won the Republican primary in Georgia's deep red 14th Congressional District yesterday, even after she was disavowed by some Rethuglican pols after videos emerged of her spouting racist and anti-Semitic gibberish and QAnon nuttery (ed. -- what are the chances "QAnon" is a Russian intelligence project?).
Some of Greene's greatest hits are described in AP's account:
"In a series of videos unearthed just after Greene placed first in the initial June 9 Republican primary, she complains of an 'Islamic invasion' into government offices, claims Black and Hispanic men are held back by 'gangs and dealing drugs,' and pushes an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, collaborated with the Nazis."There's obviously a market for this unhinged b.s. in Georgia, as we consider the comments of Greene's voters:
"Larry Silker, a 72-year-old retiree, cast a ballot for Greene last week at an early voting location in Dallas, Georgia. For these low information nitwits, Greene could have paraded around nude, soiling herself, waving a Nazi flag and shouting in tongues and they would have given the same responses. The job is not to convince them of their folly, the job is to outnumber them at the polls now and going forward.
'She seems to be a go-getter, you know. She’s out seeing everybody that she can, and I think that’s nice,' Silker said.
Asked whether he had seen criticism of Greene’s remarks, Silker said: 'Well yeah, you know, you see it. But do you put faith in it? You just have to weigh it out.'
Voter Pamela Reardon said she supports Greene because she connects with people, and she’s anti-abortion, a defender of the Second Amendment and a true Christian.'
'I got behind her because of her honesty,' she said. 'She’s not going to be bought by anybody. I could tell that her heart was pure.'” (our emphasis)
BONUS: COVID Donnie gave her a hearty welcome as a future "star" of the party --
