After the photo of the mask-free students in the crowded hallway at North Paulding High School in Dallas, GA went viral, the school responded by.....covering up and temporarily suspending the student that took the picture. The school administration was shamed into reinstating the student after protests about the school's lax safety protocols that the picture exposed.
Now, the North Paulding High School (and the Paulding County School District) has some 'splainin' to do now that 9 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the week that the school opened.
“At this time, we know there were six students and three staff members who were in school for at least some time last week who have since reported to us that they have tested positive,” says a letter from North Paulding High School Principal Gabe Carmona to parents Saturday. [snip]
The letter to parents does not include information on whether any other students or staff who were exposed have to quarantine or whether any classrooms will be closed. 'Our custodial staff continues to thoroughly clean and disinfect the school building daily, and especially affected areas,” the letter says.'"(our emphasis)So the school plans to take aggressive steps like.....getting the custodial staff to clean more with wipes, and....well nothing else for this airborne virus. No mask requirements, no social distancing protocols, no distance learning option. In other words, the Trump Virus Protection Plan.
For the good folks of Paulding County, 9 cases is just the beginning, but be sure to follow Dear Leader (open the schools!) and everything will be just fine.
