Mid-Week Song

Today would have been rhythm and blues legend Otis Redding's 79th birthday. When he died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967, in Madison, Wisconsin's Lake Monona, he had just recorded what would be his signature song, "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay," three days earlier at the Stax recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The song became the first number one record released posthumously, and was Redding's biggest hit.
