Trump Previews Election Strategy Again: Steal It & Stay

Here's malignant aspiring autocrat Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump saying the quiet part loud again:

President Trump refused Wednesday to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses the election, asserting that if he doesn’t win, it will be because of fraudulent mail-in voting and not because more Americans voted against him.

His latest comments came after he has spent months making unsubstantiated claims that voting by mail is corrupt and will lead to a “rigged” election. In fact, states that have embraced universal mail voting have documented tiny rates of possible ballot fraud, data shows.

“Well, we’re going to have to see what happens. You know that I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots and the ballots are a disaster —” Trump began when asked during a White House press briefing if he would ensure a peaceful transition.

“I understand that, but people are rioting; do you commit to making sure that there’s a peaceful transferral of power?” the reporter pressed, appearing to refer to incidents of violence that have broken out during some protests.

“Get rid of the ballots, and you’ll have a very — we’ll have a very peaceful, there won’t be a transfer, frankly. There’ll be a continuation,” Trump said. “The ballots are out of control. You know it. And you know who knows it better than anybody else? The Democrats know it better than anybody else.”  (our emphasis)

The antidote to this repulsive, anti- American gibberish begins with a massive voter turnout -- by mail, early voting, day- of voting -- making the margin of the Biden-Harris victory beyond COVID Donnie's ability to cheat (though it won't stop him from trying).  But, don't sell "the system" short in foiling him either.

In that regard, Joshua Geltzer and Dahlia Lithwick provide a strong argument for ignoring COVID Donnie's election results brainwashing and forging ahead (our emphasis):

Public anxiety over the possibility that President Donald Trump may refuse to accept an electoral loss in November is now reaching a fever pitch. The concern is, alas, valid: Trump has shown time and again that he’s uninterested in playing by the rules of our democracy and that he’s unable to accept the notion that he could be wrong, much less suffer a loss without insisting it’s the result of someone else cheating. That’s why it’s urgently important to understand where the key uncertainty lies heading into November: It’s not legal; it’s mental. The fact is that the law has remedies and fixes for the most likely ways in which Trump might attempt to resist defeat at the polls. The law, by and large, should be able to handle what may be coming. The real threat, then, lies not in formal guardrails but in our confidence. The threat is that Americans accepting those legal answers as legitimate is shaky, and that is where Trump can do the most serious damage.

Please read the entire article if you need some reassurance that, regardless of the bluster, we can excise this cancer if we just stay energized and fight through to victory in November.

Well, we all know that if he can't win, he'll cheat. He will stop at nothing to keep his criminal dealings up and running. He's deliberately being outrageous and overstepping his legal boundaries because no one ever stops him. I'm feeling so disheartened and depressed that I worry about our future as American citizens, but I'm also determined to vote and make sure everyone I know will vote as well.

My husband and I have to vote by mail in ballot. It's still too risky for us to stand in line to vote in person. We're caregivers for two high risk moms and can't expose ourselves to the virus. However, we're going to fill out our ballots, drop them off at our local BOE, and track them online to make sure they're counted.

Apparently the only way to win is to vote in landslide numbers. And we have to be patient on Election Day, knowing the results need to be tallied and monitored. It's going to be a rough time.

VOTE!
