Analyses of the roll out of various COVID-19 vaccines are indicating that instead of producing tens of millions of doses, about one-tenth of the required doses will be available. The Washington Post reports:
"Federal officials have slashed the amount of coronavirus vaccine they plan to ship to states in December because of constraints on supply, sending local officials into a scramble to adjust vaccination plans and highlighting how early promises of a vast stockpile before the end of 2020 have fallen short.
Instead of the delivery of 300 million or so doses of vaccine immediately after emergency-use approval and before the end of 2020 as the Trump administration had originally promised, current plans call for availability of around a tenth of that, or 35 to 40 million doses. [snip]
Lower-than-anticipated allocations have caused widespread confusion and concern in states, which are beginning to grasp the level of vaccine scarcity they will confront in the early going of the massive vaccination campaign." (our emphasis)
Once again, demagogue and pathological liar Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump over-promised on the initial quantities of the vaccine for his political advantage, only to fall short. Once again, as they did in the initial response to the pandemic with PPE and ventilators, the Trump regime has abdicated its central organizing function and handed the problem of limited vaccine allocations to the individual states without resources to go along with them, thanks to the malevolent and deadly inaction of Sen. Moscow Mitch McConnell and his band of nihilists in the Senate.
Is it infrastructure week yet?
