Watching Judy Chaiken's 2011 documentary "The Girls In The Band" a few days ago, one of the featured musicians was trumpet player and vocalist Clora Bryant. Bryant, who passed away last year at 92, was the only female trumpeter to perform with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holliday and Charlie Parker. Her sole album, 1957's "Gal With A Horn," captures her vocal talent as well as her mastery of the trumpet. Here's one track from that album, the mellow, pensive "Little Girl Blue."
