Buried several paragraphs deep in the New York Times story about the Trump crime family's continuing fundraising grift to pad Sore Loser Donald "Mango Mussolini" Trump's political action committee and defray expected legal expenses, is this portrait:
"Mr. Trump’s plans, however, remain extremely fluid. His refusal to accept Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory has stunted internal political planning, aides say, with some advisers in his shrinking circle of confidants hesitant to even approach him about setting a course of action for 2021 and beyond.
Those who have spoken with Mr. Trump say he appears shrunken, and over his job; this detachment is reflected in a Twitter feed that remains stubbornly more focused on unfounded allegations of fraud than on the death toll from the raging pandemic." (our emphasis)
Added to his detachment is his failure to address the disastrous hack of U.S. government computer systems by Russian intelligence, not that he'd say or do anything to upset his patrons in the Kremlin.
For Trump, it's always been about him and his wealth. His suggestion that he may run in 2024 is seen by many to be a feint to freeze the Republican field and maintain control of the party and its fundraising machine. For someone who's hardly worked a day in his life, Mango Mussolini likely isn't focused on another grueling, brand-damaging run at the Presidency, much less another four years, as much as he is on vacuuming up the rubes' cash to line his pockets. Being the perpetual leader of his gullible, grievance cult may be his best route to new wealth, and inflate his shrunken self.
