Chris Hayes summarizes the Politico story exposing the sociopathic "herd immunity" COVID-19 strategy of the Trump regime:
This is not news, just confirmation of what Trump did. He freaked out when he heard how deadly the virus was and he had no plans for how to fight it. They had scrapped the Obama playbook and dismissed any further plans. So they kept it secret and realized that hey, mostly New York City residents were dying, and the olds and the poor and minorities and Jared said, hey, this isn't such a bad thing after all. Trump voters, white rural guys and suburban moms were fine, and able to stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSo then it became an anti-mask movement for Trump, a downplay of the death count and a deliberate set of roadblocks to state governments to keep them from acquiring PPEs and test materials. Trump's team outbid state governors on supplies and made their own stockpiles. And they undercut everything the CDC tried to do, rewriting warnings and health advisories. And they silenced Dr Fauci while giving the air time to Trump and the hapless Dr Birx to spread disinformation. And then Atlas stepped in, cementing the Herd Immunity plan in public. And the Trump rallies grew in size and pretty soon it didn't matter that Trump's own fans were getting sick and dying, Everyone in the country was fair game.
And here we are, over 300,000 dead, hospitals overflowing, and now the vaccine ready to go. And Trump wants credit for creating it, when he was responsible for the deaths in the first place. It's like giving a plaque to the firefighter who started the biggest conflagration we've ever seen.
This was all preventable, most of it, anyway. Trump killed hundreds of thousands of us. And he'll never feel regret or remorse or even acknowledge what he did.
