A time for forgetting --
Republicans:

Investigated four deaths in Benghazi for 853 days.
It's time to forget about the five deaths in the Capitol Insurrection 20 days ago.
It’s only been 3 weeks since a white supremacist mob ransacked the Capitol after listening to Trump speak in front of the White House, and he refused to order them to stand down https://t.co/TMI7vJUhwj

This is so absolutely ridiculous. He’s being impeached for crimes committed when he was president. https://t.co/l5LyrnrqhK

His future in the Republican Party is bright --
A QAnon mayor has taken over a small town, encouraging everyone to check out his favorite QAnon videos and wearing his Punisher pin to city council meetings. https://t.co/PcOsaToCSZ

De-militarizing the police --
Great news: @POTUS is signing an Executive Order today limiting the transfer of military equipment to police. Last year, POGO published this report on how giving this equipment to law enforcement puts the public in danger and impedes on our rights. https://t.co/WskZ9cZIMb pic.twitter.com/m9p66DRwXo

We'd better prepare ourselves for the inevitable: Trump will not be convicted in his impeachment trial, regardless of the facts and irrefutable evidence that he incited an insurrection. Republicans will stand by him, knowing full well what he did, which makes them also complicit by refusing to convict him. He will declare another victory and he will begin his campaign the next day for President in 2024.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, he's off most major media platforms and hopefully Twitter doesn't reinstate his privileges. I wish the rest of the news media would ignore him, but he still sells airtime for them and he might very well set up his own network.
Trump isn't going away. His kids will be running for office and he's going to first destroy anyone who stood against him, then focus on winning the presidency again. Our long national nightmare is not over.
donnah -- the Trump cancer, having spread far and wide, is alive and well. Half of the Republican Senators would dearly love to see him gone but are far too cowardly and lacking in principles to actually take this opportunity to begin to turn their rotten ghost ship around.
