CONFIRMED: Texas blackouts are primarily happening due to frozen instruments at gas, coal and nuclear plants and a limited supply of gas, according to Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

What’s going on in Texas is what happens in a one party state where every single statewide politician has no professional skills beyond stoking culture war bullshit every day so they didn’t winterize its generation sources the last time this happened https://t.co/kb3cubCLbY

A lot to unpack there!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, every news broadcast should say “Rightwing Hatemonger and Corrupt Conservative Liar, Rush Limbaugh...” I'm glad he's dead and I hope he suffered. He did immeasurable damage to this country for decades and I wish he had gone a long time ago.
Texas folks encompass a massive variety of political and social differences and I am sorry that they're suffering. When Hurricane Ike blew into our city years ago, it knocked power out for weeks. My inlaws had to move to a hotel and we brought their perishables to keep in our freezer. But they didn't face bitter cold. So I'm sad that so many are truly struggling.
But if these folks voted for a Republican to run their government into the ground, well, these are the consequences of supporting a party of cruel, cheap crooks. Stop supporting the party that doesn't care about you.
And it was a small moment of joy to see an ugly Trump property come crashing down.
Yes, this seems like a pretty mean post, but that's just me today.
Not a mean post. Maybe 70 million trumpbots wouldn't agree, but who gives
ReplyDeletea rat's a__ what they think.
donnah -- I agree with westcoastman!
ReplyDeleteI looked up record low temps in Houston. 5 degrees F in 1930, 8 degrees in 1989. Had similar utility freeze issues in 1989 and a group of experts recommended hardening utilities for freeze protection. Of course nothing was done. So yes, definitely the fault of wind turbines (also installed without freeze protection).
ReplyDeleteMart -- the cheap energy/cheap maintenance/bridge collapse conservative crowd gambled and lost.
ReplyDeleteBest collection of these yet. If only Merde-a-Logo and all Trump's stupid golf courses in Scotland could go the way of his Atlantic City hotel.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Tim Boyd thinks the purpose of government is? if he believes it shouldn't do anything even in an emergency, he probably shouldn't have run for mayor.
Cucker Tarlson's insinuations about the Bidens are no surprise. During the Obama administration various wingnuts said his marriage was a sham or Michelle Obama was actually a man or various nonsense.
I bet that dog walker never used a pooper-scooper.
As for Limbaugh, I'm reminded of Hitchens's comment when Jerry Falwell died -- "If they gave him an enema they could bury him in a matchbox".
Infidel -- Thanks! There's always so much to cull through, but we try to pick topics that we haven't covered in a normal day's blogging, or that hopefully just amuse/alarm/amaze.
