Hot Iceland: Pic of the Day

A volcano dormant for almost 800 years on Iceland's Reyklanes Peninsula erupted last night. The eruption is roughly 20 miles from Iceland's capital Reykjavik, but is not causing concern. In recent months, Iceland has experience numerous small seismic events.

In 2010, a much larger eruption at another site expelled ash and dust into the air and disrupted air travel between North America and Europe.
