"Some Democrats believe this would be a tidy tradeoff if they could just break the rules on a razor-thin majority. That's not what would happen. So let me say this very clearly for all 99 of my colleagues. Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like.
"Everything Senate Democrats did to Bush and Trump, everything the Republican Senate did to President Obama would be child's play compared to the disaster the Democrats would create for their own priorities if they break the Senate. Even the most basic aspects of our colleagues' agenda, the most mundane tasks of the Biden presidency would actually be harder -- not easier -- for Democrats in a post-nuclear Senate." -- Enemy of democracy Sen. Moscow Mitch McConnell (R-Autocracy) today on the Senate floor. If outrageous threats like this don't stiffen Democrats' spines to reform or abolish the racist Senate filibuster, we don't know what will. "Breaking the rules" is exactly what Moscow Mitch and his seditionist caucus do (need we mention the Merrick Garland hold and the bum rush confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, among the most egregious examples?). This treasonous turd's threat, in the face of fellow Republicans' unprecedented actions across the country to disenfranchise Democratic voters, should backfire right in his chinless face.
The choice for Democrats is either keep the filibuster or keep democracy. Moscow Mitch would like the former. Make him sad. Then pass H.R. 1 and make him really sad.
BONUS: Moscow Mitch was likely responding to fiery comments from Democratic Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), calling the filibuster "the death grip of democracy."
BONUS II:
Sounds like Moscow Mitch is trying to take the country hostage.

Dems should make clear, they don't negotiate with terrorists.
BONUS III: Moscow Mitch also got the Stephen Colbert treatment.
