Trump To Unload His Bribe Collection Hotel

What was once the collection point for Trumpist grifters and influence-seeking foreign potentates, Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC,  is once again looking for someone to buy its lease. The Trump Organization's hotel leases the Federally-owned former Old Post Office Building in downtown Washington, D.C., and is looking for someone to buy out its lease with the U.S. General Services Administration. Early in the Trump regime, lobbyists and foreign grifters dropped their coin at the hotel, which meant ultimately they were seeking to influence the eternally greedy and transactional Trump who pocketed the profits.

The combination of the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on travel and tourism and the disastrous and divisive Trump regime which tarred his already skeevy "brand" caused serious vacancy rates over the years. It didn't help that his MAGA cult rank-in-file ironically couldn't afford the hotel's overpriced rooms and services. There are also the serious investigations into the Trump Organization, which may be looking to cut its losses before facing criminal charges related to bank, insurance and tax fraud. From the article:

"The newly proposed sale comes on the heels of Manhattan’s district attorney convening a grand jury expected to decide whether to indict the former president, other executives at his company or the business itself. The move indicates that District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr.’s investigation of the former president and his business has reached an advanced stage after more than two years.

It’s unclear whether the D.C. hotel will be a factor in Vance’s investigation into Trump’s business or in a related inquiry by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D). The property has not been named as a target in any public filings related to either Vance’s case or the investigation by James, but the Wall Street Journal reported last week that Vance’s office is investigating the hotel in addition to other properties." (our emphasis)

Another business failure by the "former guy" to add to his string of bankruptcies.  Let's hope that the Trump Organization continues to bleed money on this and other ventures well into the future, as it faces likely criminal charges.
