Trumpist Holdover At Social Security Canned

At the end of most administrations, there's the attempt to "burrow in" to the incoming administration, especially if there's a change in parties, to hold on to their jobs and often to sabotage the new administration. The Biden administration has hundreds of holdovers from Dear Leader's regime at all levels that need to be fired and replaced. We've noted the destructive mismanagement of Postmaster General and corrupt Trump donor Louis DeJoy at the U.S. Postal Service as a primary example of someone who has to go.

Yesterday, after some bureaucratic Kabuki, President Biden fired Trumpist Andrew Saul, the head of the Social Security Administration, and one who was undermining Biden's agenda at the agency. According to the White House, Saul is the poster boy for sabotage:

"Commissioner Saul has undermined and politicized Social Security disability benefits, terminated the agency’s telework policy that was utilized by up to 25 percent of the agency’s workforce, not repaired SSA’s relationships with relevant Federal employee unions including in the context of COVID-19 workplace safety planning, reduced due process protections for benefits appeals hearings, and taken other actions that run contrary to the mission of the agency and the President’s policy agenda."

Showing his disdain for the new administration, Saul refused a request to resign, and was fired. Despite recent Supreme Court decisions that give the President the power to fire him, Saul maintains he can continue in his position until January 2025, and plans to report for work continue his sabotage Monday morning. We have a simple solution for the Biden administration in dealing with this obstinate Trumpist: box up his personal items and put them on the curb Monday morning, instruct security to refuse him entry, and hand him his final paycheck with a hearty "Buh bye!"
