The far-right bigot who heads New York City's Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA) union, a hack by the name of Ed Mullins, has resigned his position following yesterday's raid by the FBI and Southern District of New York prosecutors on his home and office. Mullins, who is a rabid backer of the corrupt, malignant former guy, has vigorously opposed any reforms to policing in New York City and set his union against minority communities. He also posted the police report of Mayor de Blasio's daughter's arrest at a George Floyd / Black Lives Matter protest last year, a violation of NYPD policy. According to the linked article above:
"FBI agents left with cardboard boxes filled with evidence, CBS New York reported. An FBI spokesperson said the search was part of an ongoing investigation and had no further comment.
FBI agents also raided Mullins' home on Long Island on Tuesday. CBS New York called an attorney for Mullins, and so far has not received a reply. No charges have been filed."
The SBA governing board issued a statement regarding the investigation of Mullins:
"The nature and the scope of this criminal investigation has yet to be determined. However, it is clear that President Mullins is apparently the target of the federal investigation. We have no reason to believe that any other member of the SBA is involved or targeted in this matter." (our emphasis)
It would be wrong to speculate about the possible crimes committed by Mullins, but considering the target, we'll venture they involve fraud, racketeering and other felonies. In Trump, Mullins clearly saw a soul mate.
