WNBA Star Griner's Arrest In Moscow

With the recent arrest of WNBA star and Olympic gold medalist Brittney Griner in Russia, another twist was added to the growing hostility between Russia and the west. Griner, who plays in the off season with the Russian team UMMC Ekaterinburg, was entering Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport and apparently packed hash oil in her luggage (caveat: it's possible that the oils were planted on her to create an incident, given Russian tactics). Her arrest on drug charges was inevitable, given the tensions with Russia, and now Russia now has a little leverage to use. They can even propagandize about how American athletes use drugs but aren't punished like Russian athletes.

The State Department is doing whatever it can to secure Ms. Griner's release from detention. Fans and family are calling on Russia to release her soon, as they must. We can be assured that the Kremlin will get its pound of flesh from this incident, perhaps in the form of a hostage video from her denouncing America and defending Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine to free it from their Jewish Nazi leader and his American masters. The release of the hapless Ms. Griner will come at some point, but what bad timing.
