Russian war criminal Vladimir Putin has been clear for many years that he doesn't recognize Ukraine as an independent nation, only an appendage to his fanciful notion of a new Russian empire which he would lead. As he treats dissenters and opponents in his own country with violence and repression, so too would he treat Ukrainians, who now universally despise him and who are fighting heroically to resist him.
