QOTD -- Salvation

 

"...The overturning of Roe v. Wade was monumental and is still stuck in voters’ minds. Many feel they are stuck in a nightmare and Democrats hold the only possibility of salvation.

"This decision, this victory by the forced-birth zealots, wiped out the progress Republicans were making by pushing the anti-wokeness canard — this idea that they had to fight back against racial indoctrination, against people who would redefine what a woman is and against health regulation.

"The War Against Woke now looks silly in light of the escalated War Against Women.

"Also, Trump has resurfaced as a foil." -- Charles Blow, yesterday in the New York Times ($ -- no link). Democrats have one of the most powerful messages going into the mid-terms and beyond:  We're Fighting for Your Freedoms and Democracy.  That umbrella concept covers the fight to defend a woman's reproductive freedom;  the rule of law and free and fair elections; common sense gun laws that keep us safer;  environmental laws that protect our country and planet;  a "stronger, fairer" economy that includes fair wages and affordable health care, etc.  We're faced with an increasingly fascist Trumpist Republican Party that must be defeated at every level if there's to be "salvation."  There's nothing more important than that this year, and likely in 2024.
