Trump Lawyers In Talks With DOJ

Last night, CNN reported that sources tell them that the Malignant Loser's lawyers are talking with the Justice Department in a sign that the criminal probe into the January 6 Trumpist insurrection has reached the coup's leader. Recently, a Justice Department grand jury has subpoenaed White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, Mike Pence's former chief of staff and chief counsel, and White House counsel Pat Cippolone, moving closer to the Malignant Loser himself.

According to their report:

"At this stage, the conversations are focused mostly on whether any communications that witnesses from the Trump West Wing had with the former President can be kept from a federal criminal grand jury under Trump’s claims of executive privilege, the people said.

The Justice Department has been anticipating a court fight with Trump over executive privilege. The issue has arisen as grand jury subpoenas have been issued to two former White House counsel’s office officials and to former Vice President Mike Pence’s chief counsel and chief of staff.

Trump’s legal defense team has warned him that indictments are possible, sources tell CNN."  (our emphasis)

The report goes on to indicate that the Malignant Loser has been questioning his lawyers about possible indictments and  strategies to pursue to delay the process and avoid prosecution, including executive privilege claims and accusations of a political "witch hunt."  The fact that he sees the grand jury's interest in him as a threat is the clearest sign yet that his long-time fears about prosecution are becoming real. Unlike two years ago, he doesn't have Presidential immunity from Federal charges to hide behind.
