MAGA Insurrectionist Gets 10 Years In Prison

He was one of the more brutal rioters at the Capitol on January 6, wielding a flag pole and charging police barricades, his face twisted in incandescent rage. Former NYPD officer Thomas Webster faced the Federal District court judge yesterday in Washington, D.C. and received a 10 year prison sentence for his role in the violent Trumpist attack on democracy.

At one point, Webster crashed the barrier separating the violent mob from the police line and lunged for Metropolitan D.C. police officer Noah Rathbun, striking him and trying to rip off his gas mask and badge. All of Webster's assault was captured on video, which was played over and over to the jury, which took just three hours to convict Webster on all six counts he was charged with. Webster argued that he was acting in "self defense," a lie that was disproven by the video tape.

Presiding Judge Amit Mehta chastised Webster, saying:

"It is not until you arrived, Mr. Webster, that all hell broke loose," Judge Amit Mehta said of the police line which Webster broke.

"I still remained shocked every time I see it," Mehta said of the video. "Nobody pushed you forward, you ran," the judge added, noting several times how the video completely contradicted Webster's own testimony of the assault.

"You constructed an alternative truth," Mehta said of Webster's testimony on the stand in May, adding that his claims of self-defense were "just not credible" and calling his testimony "utterly fanciful."

Webster's attorney laid the blame on the Malignant Loser for summoning the mob -- many of whom were armed -- and pointing them toward the Capitol to overturn the election, saying the Malignant Loser and MAGA Republicans turned "otherwise decent, law abiding individuals ... against fellow Americans."
