The Associated Press is reporting, based on Ukrainian officials in Kharkiv, that Ukrainian forces have driven to the Russian border in their fight to regain territory occupied by Russian forces. The unconfirmed report represents a significant milestone in Ukraine's effort to regain territory in the northeastern region, which have met with tremendous and unexpected succes in the past week as Russian forces leave their weapons and flee. A major part of the success, in addition to the difference in morale for the two sides, is the tailoring of U.S. / Western allies' weaponry to the circumstances of the war as it evolves.
Failing on the field of battle, the Russians continue to commit crimes against the civilian population, recently by attacking a power plant supplying power to Kharkiv and environs in retaliation for Ukraine's military successes. Russian thug and war criminal Putin's growing problems at home (see "Ugly" in our first post today) as a result of his failed attempt to quickly subdue and incorporate Ukraine into his delusional Russian Empire will likely force him to even more extreme measures against the civilian population in Ukraine.
