“We live in a world where we have to hide to make love, while violence is practiced in broad daylight.” -- John Lennon, former Beatle and forever an iconic musical genius. His observations about life, music, spirituality and philosophy were thought provoking, as reflected in the lyrics of his songs. His pacifist activism brought him scorn even within the music world in the '60s and '70s as he and wife Yoko Ono embarked on their "Give Peace A Chance" mission.
He would have turned a venerable 82 today, but was assassinated at the age of 40 in New York City. Ironically, he commented before his 40th birthday, “It looks like I'm going to be 40 and life begins at 40—so they promise. And I believe it, too."
