DEVELOPING: Missiles Hit Poland Near Ukraine Border (UPDATED)

News reports indicate that missiles or rockets have landed in Poland, during a barrage of missiles fired by the Russian military in targets in Ukraine. Whether the missiles or rockets overshot or deviated from their target is not known yet. From the AP:

"Russia pounded Ukraine’s energy facilities Tuesday with its biggest barrage of missiles yet, striking targets across the country and causing widespread blackouts. A senior U.S. intelligence official said missiles crossed into NATO member Poland, where two people were killed.

A second person confirmed to The Associated Press that apparent Russian missiles struck a site in Poland about 15 miles from the Ukrainian border.

The Russian Defense Ministry denied being behind 'any strikes on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish border' and said in a statement that photos of purported damage 'have nothing to do' with Russian weapons.

A NATO official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the alliance was looking into reports of a strike in Poland. The U.S. National Security Council said it was also looking into the reports."  (our emphasis)

U.S. and other NATO allies are working with Poland to determine the facts on the ground, before taking any action. As a NATO ally, Poland would receive the unified support of its NATO allies in the event that it was a deliberate attack, including an appropriate military retaliation.

Russian war criminal and thug Vladimir Putin has become increasingly belligerent and reckless over the course of the 9 month long war against Ukraine, and recently suffered a major setback by having to abandon Kherson to Ukrainian forces. This may or may not be directly related. Updates as needed.

UPDATE:  NATO chief says the missile was likely a Ukrainian air defense missile trying to stave off Russian attacks.
