Sunday Reflection: "The Truth Is Never Ugly"

"If a person is to get the meaning of life he must learn to like the facts about himself -- ugly as they may seem to his sentimental vanity -- before he can learn the truth behind the facts. And the truth is never ugly." -- Pulitzer Prize (4 times) and Nobel Prize winning playwright Eugene O'Neill, quoted in Mark Estrin's book "Conversations with Eugene O'Neill", 1990.

O'Neill, who died on this date in 1953 at the age of 65, authored such renowned plays as "Anna Christie," "The Emperor Jones," "Desire Under The Elms," "Mourning Becomes Electra," "The Iceman Cometh," and his last major performed work "Long Day's Journey Into Night."
