Tomorrow marks the 80th birthday of George Harrison, the "quiet Beatle" who let his songwriting and musicianship speak loudly down the years. When he died in 2001 at the obscenely young age of 58, the world was left to wonder how much beauty in song would never be experienced. His work with the Beatles, the Traveling Wilburys and as a solo artist mark him as one of the most gifted and consequential songwriters and lead guitarists in rock and world music history. "Taxman," "It's All Too Much," "Badge" (w/Clapton),"While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Savoy Truffle," "Here Comes the Sun," "Something," "My Sweet Lord," "Apple Scruffs," "Give Me Love," "I Got My Mind Set On You": an abbreviated Harrison playlist of the last 60 years. This remains one of our favorites, with its quintessentially Harrison style and energy -- "What Is Life" (video shot in San Francisco's Presidio). Hope you enjoy.
