The iconic Irish band Clannad has been creating and performing traditional Irish/ Celtic folk music, as well as music in other styles, for over 50 years. Here's their lovely version of the traditional "Siúil, a Rún" ("Go, My Love"), the song of a woman lamenting her lover's going into a military career. It features the beautiful voice of Moya Brennan.
We couldn't acknowledge St. Patrick's Day without featuring the rousing "Brennan on the Moor," a song about another Brennan, Willy Brennan, a "bold, brave and undaunted" Irish highwayman who operated in the early 1800's, robbing "many a wealthy noble man," only to be hung for his efforts. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem give it a proper rendition. Hope you enjoy.
