Feds Know Trump's Reason For Stealing Docs

The Malignant Loser is trying to delay the Merde O'Lardo classified documents case beyond the 2024 election, hoping that his appointed judge Aileen Cannon will help him as she has tried in the past. Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a response to the Malignant Loser's motion to delay on Monday, and the Washington Post's Aaron Blake caught a very interesting statement by the Special Counsel in the filing:

"While arguing against the motion by Trump’s lawyers to delay the May 20 trial, special counsel Jack Smith’s lawyers assured they’re ready to go and that such a delay isn’t necessary, unsurprisingly. But they also said they are ready to prove something significant that, to this point, has remained shrouded and the subject of much speculation: why Trump allegedly took and kept the documents.

'That the classified materials at issue in this case were taken from the White House and retained at Mar-a-Lago is not in dispute,' Smith’s office said.

It then added that 'what is in dispute is how that occurred, why it occurred, what Trump knew, and what Trump intended in retaining them — all issues that the Government will prove at trial primarily with unclassified evidence.'

The government apparently thinks it knows 'what Trump intended' with the documents. And it’s signaling that it plans to prove that intent."  (our emphasis)

Whether that was obtained through witness testimony or another means, it's an amazing acknowledgement that would reveal the Malignant Loser's motive: greed in perhaps sharing the information with hostile powers, ego reinforcement in bragging about their contents (see submarine secrets and Aussie mogul), or a combination of those and other motives. We're almost wishing that there's evidence of him trying to sell them, so that the Government could bring charges of espionage and/or treason against him.

He's a greased pig. It sure sounds like prosecutors have real intent and have him cornered but I guess I won't believe it until I see it.

Jason -- always a good idea not to be overly optimistic, especially on this trial. But the law of averages might suggest he'll get nailed in one or more jurisdictions.
