Republicans In Disarray -- Turn On (Each Other) And Drop Out

Chris Christie drops out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination with some choice words about the Malignant Loser, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis.

On the Malignant Loser and his rivals

“Anyone who is unwilling to say (Trump) is unfit to be president of the United States,” Christie said, “is unfit themselves to be president of the United States.”

“It is clear to me tonight that there isn’t a path for me to win the nomination, which is why I’m suspending my campaign tonight for President of the United States,” he said at the Windham town hall, just 13 days before the first-in-the-nation primary. He called it the “right thing for me to do” and promised that he would never “enable Donald Trump to become, to ever be president of the United States again.”

On Nikki Haley

"She’s gonna get smoked, and you and I both know it.  She’s not up to this.”

On Ron DeSantis

"DeSantis called me, petrified that I would..." [filling in the blank:  endorse Haley.]

There was also a "debate" on teevee last night featuring DeSantis and Haley taking turns calling each other a liar.

"You're gonna find out tonight that there's gonna be a lot of Ron's lies that have happened. There's at least a couple of dozen so far that he's done. What we're going to do is, rather than have him go and tell you all these lies, you can go to 'DeSantislies.com,'" she said. "Every time he lies, Drake University, don't turn this into a drinking game because you will be overserved by the end of the night."

DeSantis pointed to his own campaign's website and repeatedly said there was video of Haley making comments about immigration, China and state taxes. Haley is a former governor of South Carolina.

"One good rule of thumb – if she says she's never said something, that definitely means she's said it," DeSantis said. After the debate, DeSantis deputy campaign manager David Polyansky referred to Haley's repeated mention of the website as a "crutch."

... and questioning each others' competence

In one of her most brutal critiques, Haley ridiculed DeSantis for the turmoil within his political operation, with several rounds of personnel changes and new strategies along with the millions spent on his behalf.

“Why should we think you can manage or do anything in this country?” Haley asked.

DeSantis accused Haley of being beholden to big donors and of flip-flopping on conservative issues.

“We don’t need another mealy-mouthed politician who just tells you what she thinks you want to hear just to try to get your vote, then to get into office and to do her donors’ bidding,” DeSantis said of Haley.

Well, we have to say we agree with all of those observations.
