There will be post-action evaluations of police responses across different campuses that will identify unnecessary force and tactics, and correct it. De-escalating the protests worked when some colleges agreed to review their investments in Israel, something that will vary in significance from university to university, and will have little impact on Israel's conduct of the war.
Accosting Jewish students and waving signs like "From the river to the sea" (from the Jordan to the Mediterranean) or "Free Palestine" are Hamas slogans and won't help the cause of the protesters with people who condemn Netanyahu's brutal approach in Gaza and want a ceasefire.
