A new ABC News / Ipsos / Washington Post poll of adults has Vice President Harris leading the felonious Malignant Loser nationally 50% to 45%:
"Vice President Kamala Harris heads into her nominating convention this week leading former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup, bolstered by vast improvements over President Joe Biden in enthusiasm and perceived readiness for the job and sharply better support among key groups including swing-voting independents, according to a new latest ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll.
Yet Trump retains the upper hand on the two top-cited election issues in the poll -- the overall economy and inflation -- and also leads on a third -- immigration -- keeping the race a closely contested one.
Among all adults -- relevant since there's plenty of time to register -- Harris and Gov. Tim Walz lead Trump and Sen. JD Vance by 50%-45%. Among those now registered to vote, it's 49%-45%, a slight Harris advantage given sampling tolerances. And Harris has a 6-point lead among likely voters, 51%-45%." (our emphasis)
The poll was conducted August 9- 13. The point that voters perceive the Malignant Loser as better for the economy and inflation are the products of a broken media's failure to provide context that the four years under him the economy was worse according to key measures, e.g., job creation, federal deficit, GDP, etc. (though other polls show Harris with the edge). That's leaving aside his horrific mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that killed 800,000 Americans on his watch while he pushed quack remedies and refused to acknowledge the crisis.
The second point relates to registered voters and the need to get first-time voters energized, registered, and to the polls in November, especially in the battleground states. Every point moves the Vice President closer to victory, so the Dems will be mounting an effort for voter registration and then get-out-the-vote. Voting by mail is an option that should aid in driving the Dem vote up among first timers. A well-staged Democratic National Convention starting tomorrow should provide a bump to the Vice President's candidacy and interest in voting.
