The ongoing Munich Security Conference's website says it's "the world's leading forum for debating international security policy," but apparently the Malignant Fascist's loyal finger puppet JD Vance didn't get the memo. In a nasty speech which sounded like his cult leader talking, neophyte Vice President diverted attention from Russia's invasion and continued occupation of Ukraine and its threat to European security, to immigration and censorship policies of the continent's democracies. He attacked the leaders of the UK, Germany, Sweden and other allies, while not laying a finger on Russia (or China or Iran). From Reuters:
"The prospect of peace talks had been expected to dominate the annual Munich Security Conference after a call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin this week but Vance barely mentioned Russia or Ukraine in his speech to the gathering.
He said the threat to Europe that worried him most was not Russia or China but what he called a retreat from fundamental values of protecting free speech - as well as immigration, which he said was 'out of control' in Europe.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius hit back in his speech to the conference later in the day, calling Vance's remarks 'unacceptable'.
He said Vance had called into question democracy not only in Germany but in Europe as a whole.
The clash underlined the divergent worldviews of Trump's new administration and European leaders, making it hard for longtime allies the United States and Europe to find common ground on issues including Ukraine." (our emphasis)
If all of this wasn't leading to the death of democracy it would be hilarious. Watching Pete make an ass of himself and try to walk back his comment's and Kristi's cosplay, democrats being concerned, I'm starting to lose hope. The only joy is watching thuglicans see how it's affecting their constituents. Katie Britt's breathless trad wife begging that Elon will at least let the University of Alabama keep it's funding is a knee slapper. It's just too bad it's falling on deaf ears.

ReplyDelete🤔 Well, Vance was quite the "ugly American" to any American who wasn't a true 'murrican and got to be VP. He sees no reason to pull his punches in Europe. I am always stunned, though, by his belief that he's a good comedian even though most of his audiences show their appreciation of his humor with jaw-dropped silence! Like the audience in Munich when Vance said:

There was an almost audible thud of silence! Not even the crickets made noise! JFC! Comparing the world's richest Nazi demanding free speech to a young woman who, like Vance's audience, would very much like to save the planet! Hey, JD! When you preface your remarks with "I say this with all humor," we all know there is no humor coming! 🤬
