Polls: Trump Disapproval Rating Rises Substantially

A majority of the American people, after only one disastrous month of the Trump/ Musk regime, aren't happy:

U.S. President Donald Trump's approval rating has ticked slightly lower in recent days as more Americans worried about the direction of the U.S. economy as the new leader threatens a host of countries with tariffs, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

The six-day poll, which closed on Tuesday, showed 44% of respondents approved of the job Trump is doing as president, down from 45% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted January 24-26. Trump's approval rating stood at 47% in a January 20-21 poll conducted in the hours after the Republican's return to the White House.

The share of Americans who disapprove of his presidency has risen more substantially, to 51% in the latest poll, compared with 41% right after he took office.

[T]he share of Americans who think the economy is on the wrong track rose to 53% in the latest poll from 43% in the January 24-26 poll. Public approval of Trump's economic stewardship fell to 39% from 43% in the prior poll.  [snip]

In the latest poll, only 32% of respondents approved of Trump's performance on inflation, a potential early sign of disappointment in the Republican's performance on a core economic issue after several years of rising prices weakened Biden ahead of last year's presidential election. Trump defeated Biden's vice president, Kamala Harris, in the Electoral College and narrowly won the popular vote... (our emphasis)

More insights from a WaPo/Ipsos poll show the Trump/Musk klepto-kakistocrat coup overreach is opposed by substantial majority:

WaPo/Ipsos poll: 57 percent of respondents say Trump has exceeded his authority since taking office. More than 8 in 10 say he should follow court rulings. That includes more than 9 in 10 Democrats along with roughly 8 in 10 Republicans and independents.

It goes without saying that it would be morally repugnant and political malpractice if we Democrats and other patriotic Americans don't step up and do everything we can to foil Trump's economic and social policies (job- killing and inflation- driving tariffs, massive cuts to Medicaid and Social Security,  etc.), the unconscionable hollowing out of key federal government agencies (DOJ, USAID, NIH, CDC, FDA, FAA, CFPB, IRS, etc.), and the un- American betrayal of our allies and subsequent embrace of war criminal Putin and other anti- democratic autocrats.  We must all do our part in calling out the catastrophic impacts of those policies and betrayals, and promote every victory against these bastards in the process.

BONUS:  More from the WaPo/Ipsos poll:

The latest Washington Post/Ipsos poll found that a majority of Americans, 62%, say Trump is not “honest and trustworthy.” This includes 95% of Democrats, 70% of independents and 23% of Republicans, according to the results.

The poll also questioned respondents on whether Trump “has the mental sharpness it takes to effectively serve as president.” The results found that 47% of Americans said he does while 50% said he does not.

There is no mandate.  He is not the "strongman" he and his cultists think he is.
