Quote Of The Day -- Shout Out To Rudy

 

 

“Our movie was just the beginning for him... Rudy went on to star in a string of comedy films. Hits like ‘Four Seasons Landscaping,’ ‘Hair Dye Another Day’ and the courtroom drama ‘A Very Public Fart.’ ”  -- Sacha Baron Cohen's shout out to Rudy "Toot Toot" Giuliani at last night's Golden Globe awards. Cohen's movie "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" won Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, and he won Best Actor in the same category.  Sadly, Maria Bakalova, who played Cohen's teenage daughter and object of clueless Rudy Giuliani's lust in the movie, was denied a Globe in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical category.  We would have loved to have heard her acceptance speech ("I'd also like to thank Mr. Giuliani, whose acting skills surprised me -- he wasn't stiff at all!").

QOTD -- Priorities

But I think we could all agree that we should not be giving bigots and pedophiles a free platform to amplify their views and target their victims... if we prioritize truth over lies, tolerance over prejudice, empathy over indifference and experts over ignoramuses, then maybe, just maybe, we can stop the greatest propaganda machine in history, we can save democracy, we can still have a place for free speech and free expression, and, most importantly, my jokes will still work.” -- Sacha Baron Cohen torching Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg while accepting the Anti- Defamation League's International Leadership Award yesterday.  Cohen does a searing, compelling job of painting a broader picture of the danger of social media giants ("the Silicon six") spreading despicable lies, fear and outrage to billions around the world.  The video of Cohen's thoughtful speech is embedded at the link -- go watch it, please.
