QOTD -- "This Is A Good Economy"

Nobel Prize economist Paul Krugman:

“Let’s be honest, this is a good economy.”

So declared Jerome Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve, in his news conference on Wednesday after the Fed’s latest policy meeting. He’s right, even if the public isn’t fully convinced (although the gap between economic perceptions and reality seems to be narrowing). In fact, Powell is clearly wrestling with a dilemma many countries wish they had: What’s the right monetary policy when the news is good on just about all fronts?

Contrary to what you may have heard, this is not a “Goldilocks economy” — get your children’s stories right, folks! Goldilocks found a bowl of porridge that was neither too hot nor too cold. We have an economy that is both piping hot (in terms of growth and job creation) and refreshingly cool (in terms of inflation)...

Krugman goes on to discuss the specific good news (inflation now at 2%, wage growth up, GDP at 3.3%, and the stock market booming).  He concludes by noting that, in our hyperpartisan times, President Biden won't get credit from the vast majority of MAGAt Republicans for any economic successes;  if they could undercut the economy like they're trying to undercut immigration reform, they would. So, says Krugman,

... I don’t expect Biden to ride to easy victory on the strength of economic success. But the economy is doing well enough that Donald Trump is back to insisting that the unemployment numbers are fake and claiming, ludicrously, that he somehow deserves credit for a rising stock market...

Having the flailing cult leader- before- party- before- country saying bullshit nonsense like that is the best indication that "this is a good economy."  Thanks, Biden!

BONUS:  A little trolling is in order.

BONUS II:  Why oh why has the "Feels vs. is" negative public perception lingered?  Oh --

Northern Ireland To Have A Sinn Féin First Minister

In a move that would have been thought impossible perhaps a decade ago, Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, today will have its first member of the Irish nationalist party Sinn Féin as its First Minister, Michelle O'Neill. Sinn Féin's political goal is the reunification of Northern Ireland with the Republic of Ireland to its south, something they have been fighting for since the end of World War I. From the Washington Post:

"O’Neill, 47, will make history as Northern Ireland’s first republican leader, from a party that wants north and south to come together, someday, as a single country.

'It represents truly historic change in the north and across the island of Ireland,' she said in a statement to The Washington Post.

Calling it a 'good day for democracy,' O’Neill noted that the restoration of government 'respects the result' of the May 2022 election — when Sinn Féin for the first time won the largest share of seats in the assembly and the right to hold the first minister job under Northern Ireland’s delicate power-sharing agreement.

But O’Neill also emphasized that she will be 'a First Minister for All' — that means unionists and republicans, Protestants and Catholics, those who want a 'United Ireland' and those who want to remain 'British Forever' (alongside a growing number in the middle ground)." (our emphasis)

As a mark of how head spinning this is, O'Neill's father and two cousins were in the Irish Republican Army, fighting against the Northern Ireland government and British soldiers stationed there years ago. Thirty years of bloody conflict in Northern Ireland between Protestants and Catholics, which was referred to there as "the troubles," largely ended with the 1998 Good Friday Agreement as a result of Clinton Administration diplomacy.

Weekend Music

Let's kick off Black History Month with music from one of the greatest American composers, pianists and band leaders, Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington. Although considered "the most significant composer" of jazz music, Ellington thought of his compositions as "beyond category."  We're featuring one of his compositions with his frequent collaborator Billy Strayhorn, a song he often closed his concerts with -- 1953's "Satin Doll."  Hope you enjoy.

More Classified Docs Locked Up at Mar-a-Lago

FBI agents apparently missed a locked closet in the Malignant Loser's residence at Merde O'Lardo during their execution of a search warrant in August, 2022, according to information obtained by ABC News. The report also indicates that the FBI failed to search a "hidden room" connected to the Malignant Loser's bedroom. The lawful search was conducted weeks before the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith, whose team is now questioning several witnesses.

Investigators believe that the Malignant Loser had the lock changed on the closet while his lawyer was in the basement of the estate searching in a storage room. These investigators later learned from employees at the estate that the FBI had missed some rooms in the search.

The intriguing question now is who tipped Special Counsel Smith that the FBI missed those rooms, as noted by former Justice Department official and New York University law professor Andrew Weissmann:

It would be irresponsible not to speculate, and our guess is the Malignant Loser's spouse, Melanoma Melania, who seems perturbed at the Malignant Loser for another sexual assault that's costing them money this time, with the trial happening as her mother passed away. The look she gave him as she left her mother's funeral separately from him is priceless:

José Andrés Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize

This is something we've been calling on for years, and finally the nomination is in:

Democrats nominated Chef José Andrés and the World Central Kitchen (WCK) for the Nobel Peace Prize, just after a House GOP lawmaker nominated former President Trump for the prestigious award.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) along with Reps. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) and Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) nominated the celebrity chef and his not-for-profit non-government organization (NGO) in a letter addressed to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, citing his “innovative model” and his impact as a “global phenomenon” by providing more than 350 million dishes worldwide made by locals.

“During many dark and difficult times, the impact Chef Andrés and the World Central Kitchen has been extraordinary,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.

“All are in awe of how, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chef Andrés quickly marshaled the effort to provide 40 million meals to feed the hungry across the world,” they added.

They also commended him for helping to feed the National Guard soldiers in 2021 amid the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, how his NGO distributed hot meals and grocery kits in Kyiv during the onset of the Russia-Ukraine war and the aid the group offered to displaced Palestinians amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Andrés is a Washington, D.C.-based restaurateur whose disaster relief fund gives out meals during natural disasters, namely starting off right after the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010.

The well-known chef, who operates a two-Michelin-star restaurant as well as several Bib Gourmands, has built his NGO into an organization that topped $500 million in annual revenue in 2022...

One of the nominees he's up against is the treasonous- narcissistic sociopathic moron- serial sexual assaulter, who was shamefully nominated by MAGAt New York Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney.

Chef Andrés is one of the most selfless humanitarians on the planet, and through his World Central Kitchen he's saved countless lives around the world during wars and pandemics.  If he's not deserving of the prize, no one is.

QOTD: "She's A Loser"

Failed trial lawyer and Melania imitator and wannabe mistress of the Malignant Loser Alina Habba looks like she's out of a job, as soon as he can line up a new loser for the appeals phase of his cases. From former Trump White House legal counsel Ty Cobb responding to Erin Burnett, CNN, about how Habba has handled both his business fraud and his sexual assault and defamation cases:

“I think she’s handled it in the mafia way. She's done his bidding. She’s articulated his political narrative of victimization and unfairness in the judicial system and made some outlandish claims including the conflict claims and she lost. So, she is a loser. I’m not surprised that Trump is looking for appellate representation.”

The unhinged Malignant Loser will continue to lose in court and hire other losers to represent him. The lawyers worth their law degree won't touch him or stay (unless he pays them in advance). Habba learned the hard way.

Ad Hits Trump's Sexual Assault Case

The folks at The Lincoln Project know how to create vivid and hard hitting ads (something the Biden campaign might learn from). They're the opposite of the quaint "when they go low, we go high" ethos of white glove Dems. We'll be seeing lots more in the next 10 months.

To MAGA Patriots: "Go Broke Or You're Woke!"

We quote at length Rex Huppke who has actions for MAGAt Patriots to take as they see the booming Biden economy and suspect what's really going on:

... It’s clear Democrats are manipulating the economy and making it the strongest economy in the world in order to fool voters into thinking Biden is a competent president.

Don’t believe me? If you own stocks or have a 401(k), just look at your balance and you’ll see EXACTLY what these cheaters are up to. They’re trying to buy your votes by putting more money in your pockets. That’s cheating. DON’T BE FOOLED!

It’s clear true Trump supporters cannot be party to this kind of liberal skullduggery. So in response to this distressing spate of positive economic news, I hereby call on all MAGA faithful to remove themselves from the CORRUPTLY BOOMING BIDEN ECONOMY.

If you have a 401(k), you need to immediately cash that out and either donate the money to President Trump’s reelection campaign/legal defense fund (he will give it back to you, with interest, once elected) or invest those funds in somethings sensible, like digital Trump Trading Cards.

Next, you must quit your job. It’s on us to help President Trump’s campaign by bringing those unemployment numbers back up to where we think they should be under an incompetent president who doesn’t know what day it is.

If you aren’t willing to quit your job, you must at least refuse any pay raise you’re offered. Only a squishy lib would allow himself to get paid more while a DEMONcrat is in office.

Lastly, it is ABSOLUTELY imperative that you not feel confident about the future. America is a terrible place. It is falling apart. The economy is in shambles and your personal economic situation is a garbage fire.

Darkness is everywhere. Living is anguish. All hope is lost.

Only by embracing these America-first beliefs, and believing Trump is the one person who can fix everything and make life perfect, will you be able to declare yourself a true MAGA loyalist.

So get out there, fellow patriot, and disconnect from Biden’s economy. Sell stocks, put your retirement money in Trump’s coffers, embrace the gloom.

When it comes to Biden’s hot economy, remember this: Go broke or you're woke.

There's not much advice we can add to that, except "Do it, MAGAts!  Act now! Your cult leader will approve and accepts cash, check or credit!"
