Sheriff Michael Carona, a once up-and-coming Rethug and sheriff of Orange County, California, was indicted last October, charged with mail fraud and corruption. The sheriff, who met with Karl "Turdblossom" Rove to discuss his future in Orange County Rethug politics before the inconvenient truth of his inner rot became known, is now trying to keep Federal prosecutors from introducing to a future jury tapes and other evidence of his kickbacks, sexual misconduct and other ethical problems. In one incident, a cellphone accidentally dialed an answering machine while the married sheriff was having sex with a female deputy in a county vehicle (his nickname for his privates - "The Little Sheriff" - no doubt was well chosen). Oh, the sheriff also had a mistress.
Carona's indictment also includes charges he received kickbacks in the form of Cartier watches, a $2,500 custom suit, trips to Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Cabo San Lucas.
