Rethuglican National Committee Chairclown Michael "Tin Man" Steele has been a gift for Democrats and late night comics; not so much for the party he thinks he leads. When asked Monday on Herr Hannity's radio program whether Rethuglicans would win the House in 2010, in a burst of uncharacteristic honesty Tin Man replied, "not this year." He also went on to question whether the Rethugs "are ready" for the responsibility. (Who slipped the sodium pentothol to Tin Man?)
It took less than a day for Tin Man to do a 180 on his comment, declaring on Tweety's show Tuesday that Rethugs could win the House. That didn't satisfy embarrassed Rethugs. Said a spokesman for the National Rethuglican Congressional Committee,
"independent political analysts and even liberal columnists have stated that Republicans have a very real shot at taking back the majority in 2010."We think a majority of Americans are too smart to hand the car keys back to the party that drove us into a deep ditch domestically and internationally. The Rethugs and their Chairclown are betting otherwise.
