The long-awaited Congressional Budget Office report on the impact of the health insurance reform legislation about to be voted on was released this morning. It's very good news for Dems and the Obama Administration. The CBO reports that the reform will reduce the Federal deficit by $130 billion over the next 10 years, while providing health insurance coverage for an additional 32 million Americans.
Watch the momemtum start to shift. A number of conserva-Dems have been waiting for the CBO numbers to be released before deciding on their vote, and this should give them the cover that they thought they needed. In addition, Rethuglican lies about a budget-busting health care bill have now been exposed, not that they won't continue to use them with the low-information voters that make up a significant part of their base.
Expect to see an increasing number of Dem holdouts shifting to "yes" on the bill's passage. Now would also be a good time for the Dems to loudly and repeatedly ask the Rethugs in Congress (and tea baggers), "you mean you're not interested in deficit reduction?"
