News reports are circulating that the lone gunman who shot two police officers last night near the Pentagon had strong anti-Government views. The shooter was said to have libertarian leanings with frustration at the "Government's reach into the private lives of Americans." With last month's suicide airplane attack by an anti-Government type on the IRS facility in Austin, TX, we're seeing an upsurge in violence by right-wing loners with a grudge against the Government.
Coincidentally, the Southern Poverty Law Center has just issued a report saying that "patriot" groups and militias on the right have experienced an increase of 244 percent in the past year. With loons like Reps. Michelle "I See Commies" Bachmann and Steve "Lyin'" King, and media cheerleaders like "Heil" Hannity and Boo Hoo the Hoot Beck egging on those not-so-tightly-wrapped followers of theirs, sadly we're very likely to see more bloodshed.
