Why Democrats Should Push Immigration Reform Now

Ezra Klein has an interesting post today on the Kaplan Daily's webkins site on the political advantages of, not to mention the moral arguments for, pushing an immigration reform bill through this summer/fall. Harry Reid says he has enough votes in the Senate (with a few Republicans) and the House would be much easier to navigate. Not only would this fulfill a campaign promise by President Obama, but it would divide the Rethugs between (to be somewhat simplistic) the "get out of MY country" yahoos and the country clubbers who want continued cheap labor. That sounds like a win-win to us.
