Slowly, some principled conservatives are coming forward to denounce Rethuglican demagoguery surrounding the "Ground Zero mosque." Michael "Mushroom Cloud" Gerson, who has also taken issue with his party's stance on amending (or repealing) the 14th Amendment, does so in his Kaplan Daily op/ed today. Think Progress reports on the exchange between MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Scarborough and Rethug consultant Mark McKinnon, in which both express dismay at the direction of their party on the issue of religious tolerance, and how it plays into al Qaeda's message.
What a refreshing contrast to the rantings of Poot, Winky, Screwy Louie and all the American Taliban and New Confederate Party types who are constantly looking for wedge issues to divide Americans.
