Rep. Michele "American Loon" Bachmann pretty much summed up the Rethuglican strategy going into the 2012 elections: bad economic news is good news for us, so let's make some bad news happen. And whatever the Rethugs can do to generate bad news -- from obstructing recovery legislation to holding an increase in the debt ceiling hostage -- they'll do it gladly. When asked yesterday on CNBC if higher unemployment would increase her chances of being elected, ol' crazy eyes said, "Well, that could be. Again, I hope so."
We need to keep reminding people of Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch "Missy" McConnell's response when asked last January what Rethug priorities were. He didn't mention jobs, the economy, or the debt. Missy said,
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
