As we all remember, human replica Willard "Tree Man" Romney was endorsed a couple of weeks ago by vulgarian egomaniac Donald "Rump" Trump in a very brief press conference in Lost Wages, NV. It couldn't have lasted more than five minutes, with the candidate and his wife looking uncomfortable as Rump spoke. There was the sense at the time that Mittens was wary about the value of fellow plutocrat Rump's endorsement, given Rump's embrace of birtherism, and his public humiliation and mocking at last year's White House Correspondents Dinner by the President.
Perhaps that sense of foreboding is borne out by this poll in Real Clear Politics, as analyzed by Steve Benen. The day after Rump's endorsement, Tree Man Mittens' poll numbers started to drop off. Did the endorsement have a negative effect? It's hard to say, but Rump is unfavorably viewed by the public as a circus master who thinks everything is all about him.
