Some Good News

We saw a couple of positive developments in Talking Points Memo this morning:

1. The Rethuglicans are split on the contraceptive access issue that erupted last week. Maine Senators Olympia "Light" Snowe and Susan "I'll Have a Tom" Collins are bucking party leadership to say "no" to them and to the right wingers in the Catholic Church hierarchy.

2. The President's FY 2012 budget is causing the Rethugs conniptions (always a good sign that they're losing). Case in point:
"In his budget message, Obama alludes to the GOP’s alternative vision: to use the mushrooming national debt as an excuse (or opportunity, if you’re so inclined) to phase out some of the most popular services the government provides while reducing taxes on wealthy Americans."
Only good can come of the Rethugs picking the losing side in the contraceptive wars, and in siding with the wealthiest Americans and big corporations at a time when the public wants to see fairness in the economy.
