Most Of "Papers Please" Law Struck Down
Today, the Supreme Court struck down three-fourths of the controversial "papers please" Arizona state law, but retained the provision that permits law enforcement to check the immigration status of individuals stopped for traffic violations, etc...for now. It's expected that once that provision is actually implemented, it will be challenged and found to be discriminatory.
Arizona's finger-wagging wingnut Gov. Jan "Witches" Brewer tried to put the best spin on the part of the law that remains -- until challenged -- but it's a clear rebuke to the far right white nativists that populate the Rethuglican / New Confederate Party. So where does weathervane weirdo Willard "Self-Deportation" Romney stand on the decision? Willard won't say, and irony of ironies, he's in Arizona today at a fundraiser.
