This Explains A Lot

This, from Gallup polling, shows 46 percent of Americans think God created man in his present form in the last 10,000 years, a percentage which has essentially held steady for the past 30 years. (Not that the numbers are conterminous, but 46 percent is roughly what Willard Romney is polling currently.)
